Bigger the potential loot pool, dimmer your chances of getting item you want with high quality from anywhere. Loot pool of rings is large enough for you to waste a good chunk of materials to get the right one and yet you still expect the right item to be an ancient, with 1/10 rarity rate. ![]() That’s not impossible, but still require a hefty amount if you don’t share someone else’s luck. That simply means you have around 3.5 to 4.1 in a thousand chance (0.357-0.416%) to roll an ancient ring you want and this is not considering item weights. That’s less than 4% chance with another 1/10 rarity modifier for a ring you want to be ancient quality on top of it. There are 24-28 different ring outcomes that you can acquire from rare item upgrading depending on the class. You can also head back into the vault as the clock is counting down, and get any treasure or gobs you missed if you really need the gold.Upgrading rare rings must be a desperate measure if nothing else works. Plus you get a chance at Blood Thiefs for more shards to gamble more rings. On average Greed gives 1+ Ethereals (0-2 per kill), and the Malevolent Tormentors can drop them as well, with a guaranteed legendary. This way I am not wasting time somewhere else leveling to 6, which would mean I would have to be very careful gathering the treasure piles, and limit my goblin killing on the way to greed. ![]() This usually takes me to level 7, which is where I go kill greed. ![]() Not true, I enter the vault as a brand new character, and clear the first area, which generally gets me to level 5, then I focus on the treasure piles, and kill the gobs that spawn. Not the goblins or the monsters, cause you would need to be that level at the boss in order to get etherals ( better chance anyway ). If you do the low level thing, I believe level 5 or 7, you should only kill Greed.
